Prior to his current position at Apple, Parakilas has worked in a number of different roles in the technology industry. Most recently he was Chief Strategy Officer at the Center for Humane Technology, a non-profit focused on re-aligning technology with humanity's best interests. In that role, Parakilas helped define the organization's strategy and worked with lawmakers to draft next-generation policy to better protect people.
Previously to that, Sandy worked as Product Manager on Driver Earnings at Uber; also led operations teams at both Uber and Facebook and has founded or co-founded several startups. In addition, he writes and speaks about issues related to the technology industry and society. Parakilas's writing has appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, the Guardian and WIRED. He has also worked with the U.S. Congress and U.K. Parliament on technology policy issues.
